In Loving Memory Of A Shepherd Of Souls
A Tribute to the Passing of Our Holy Father, Pope Francis
As I write these words, my heart is weighed down with profound sorrow and reverence. The news of the passing of our Holy Father, Pope Francis, is one I receive not only with deep sadness, but also with sacred reflection. The world has lost a spiritual giant, but for me—as a devout Catholic, as a son of the Church—it feels as though a light has dimmed in the sanctuary of my soul.
Just last year, on my wedding anniversary, I was blessed to receive a Papal Blessing from His Holiness. It was a moment I will forever treasure—a divine seal upon a milestone in my life and family. That simple parchment bearing his sacred words now carries even greater weight, for it came from a heart that beat with compassion, humility, and unwavering love for the people of God.
Pope Francis was not merely a leader; he was a spiritual father to millions across the globe. His voice was a balm in turbulent times—gently reminding us of mercy, of simplicity, of love without borders. Through his teachings and example, he brought Christ closer to the forgotten, the marginalized, the weary, and the brokenhearted. He was a pope who listened, who embraced, who walked with us.
Today, I mourn deeply—not just for the Church universal, but for myself. I mourn as a Catholic, as a believer, and as one whose faith found a personal touchpoint in this extraordinary man. His papacy has shaped my spiritual journey in no small way, and though he has been called to rest, the echo of his voice will live on in my prayers, my family, and my service to humanity.
Holy Father, thank you for leading with tenderness and truth. Rest well in the Lord’s embrace. You have fought the good fight. You have finished the race. You have kept the faith.
Requiescat in pace, Papa Francis.
