Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his trust in the judiciary following the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the appeal challenging his candidacy in the last gubernatorial election.
On Tuesday, the apex court rejected the case filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Agboola Ajayi, affirming the legitimacy of Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag bearers.
Upon his return to Akure from Abuja, Governor Aiyedatiwa described the ruling as a testament to the judiciary’s commitment to justice and fairness.
“This judgment reinforces the dedication of both the Supreme Court and the Appeal Court to upholding democracy. The courts have consistently ruled based on facts and the law, and this verdict is no exception. It is evident that our party secured a clear victory, and this has now been validated at the highest judicial level,” he said.
Addressing concerns about security challenges in the state, the governor reassured residents that his administration remains committed to ensuring their safety.
He highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with security agencies to maintain peace and stability.
“Safeguarding lives and property is a fundamental responsibility of any government, and we are fully committed to that. We have been working closely with security agencies to keep Ondo State safe for everyone,” he stated.
Governor Aiyedatiwa emphasized that his administration has significantly supported security agencies, including the police and Amotekun Corps, by equipping them with essential resources.
“We continue to invest in intelligence gathering, surveillance, and logistics to enhance security operations. Our partnership with security outfits is aimed at improving response time and ensuring the protection of our communities. Security is a collective effort, and we are determined to make Ondo State a safer place,” he added.
He also disclosed plans to procure advanced security equipment to further strengthen law enforcement operations across the state.
Reassuring residents of his administration’s unwavering commitment to security and development, Governor Aiyedatiwa urged citizens to support government initiatives aimed at fostering a peaceful and prosperous Ondo State.
