The Ose Youths Progressive Movement (OYPM) has strongly condemned the recent killings of youths in Ose Local Government, Ondo State, allegedly carried out by officers of the Nigerian Police Force.
In a statement signed by its National Chairman, Oluwaseun A. Ogunniyi (Aditu), and Acting Secretary, Ogunrinde Vincent, the group described the incident as a tragic and unacceptable loss, expressing deep sorrow over the violence that has shaken the community.
While extending heartfelt condolences to the affected families, OYPM reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice is served.
The movement commended the Ose Local Government Chairman-elect for his swift response and reassuring message to the public, promising to address the crisis and support the victims’ families.
However, OYPM expressed strong dissatisfaction with the conduct of the police officers involved, condemning their actions as unprofessional, inhumane, and a violation of the fundamental rights of innocent youths.
Calling on the Assistant Inspector General of Police and other relevant authorities, OYPM demanded an immediate and transparent investigation into the incident, prosecution of the officers responsible, and the implementation of necessary measures to prevent future occurrences of police brutality in the area.
The group emphasized that it would not relent in its pursuit of justice, vowing that the voices of Ose youths would continue to be heard until their rights and safety were adequately protected.
Describing the killings as a wake-up call to address systemic issues of police misconduct, OYPM insisted that justice must be served.
The statement, which was also signed by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Okeowo Eniola Enitan (Democracy), concluded with a firm declaration: “Enough is enough! Our lives matter. Our future matters. Justice must prevail.”
