In light of the recent communal clashes between the Owake and Ebo communities in Iwaro-Oka, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, Hon. Seun Oluwashina Ajongbolo, a prominent APC leader in the Akoko South West and South East Federal Constituency, is appealing for peace and unity among the affected communities.
Ajongbolo made the plea in a statement signed by his media team on Monday.
The statement reads, “The violent conflict, which erupted on Sunday night, has reportedly resulted in the loss of lives, injuries, and the destruction of properties, including homes and community landmarks.
“Hon. Ajongbolo expressed deep concern over the tragic events and emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence for the development and prosperity of the communities.
“It is with a heavy heart that I address the recent unrest in our beloved communities. The loss of lives and destruction of properties are tragedies that should never occur among brothers and sisters. I implore all parties involved to cease hostilities and embrace dialogue as the means to resolve disputes,” he stated.
“He further urged community leaders, elders, and youth groups to collaborate with security agencies to restore peace and prevent further escalation of violence.
“Our strength lies in our unity. I call upon traditional rulers, religious leaders, and all stakeholders to intervene promptly, guiding our youths towards peaceful resolutions and fostering an environment where development can thrive,” Hon. Ajongbolo added.
“Hon. Ajongbolo also extended his condolences to the families affected by the crisis and assured them of his commitment to working with relevant authorities to ensure justice and the restoration of peace in the area.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the families who have lost loved ones and those who have been displaced or injured. We must come together to rebuild and heal, ensuring such incidents do not recur,” he concluded.
“The recent clashes have raised concerns about the safety and stability of the region, prompting calls from various quarters for immediate and lasting solutions to communal disputes.
