Tragedy struck the Kuchibiyu community in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday, January 6, 2025, as a bomb explosion at an Islamiyyah school resulted in the death of one student and critically injured four others.
The explosion, which occurred around noon, sent shockwaves through the peaceful community located approximately 42 kilometers from Abuja’s city center.
Emergency responders, including a police bomb disposal team, promptly arrived at the scene to secure the area and transport the injured students to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
A security source indicated that the deceased student might have been carrying an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) that detonated. However, no official statement has been issued by authorities to confirm the cause of the explosion or the circumstances surrounding the incident.
