Party politics remain an essential component of democratization, providing citizens with the opportunity to choose their leaders. However, the process of selecting leaders in a democratic state depends largely on the organization and cohesion of party systems, which in turn offer options for the electorate to make informed choices.
In this context, party cohesion is crucial, as every party member is naturally ambitious. Many individuals join political parties with the hope of advancing their personal and collective interests. This ambition often leads to competition, which, if not properly managed, can result in conflicts of interest, rivalry, division, acrimony, and, in extreme cases, significant disagreements. Such internal disunity could impede progress and even result in election losses. Unfortunately, when this happens, the grassroots—the foundation of political support—are the primary victims.
At this critical juncture, our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owo Local Government, requires a strong synergy among party leaders to ensure success, particularly in the upcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025. It is imperative for all party members to unite as a family and provide unwavering support to our candidates, Hon. Tope Omolayo and his running mate, Hon. Yusuf Hammed, to secure victory. Their administration is poised to build and restructure the local government for the socio-economic benefit of the people of Owo.
While misunderstandings are not uncommon in a large political party like ours, it is essential for us to set aside our differences, work together with a united front, and prioritize the success of the party. Only through collective effort can we achieve our shared goals.
I, therefore, urge everyone to embrace the decision of the party regarding the choice of Hon. Tope Omolayo and Hon. Yusuf Hammed as our candidates. Let us support them wholeheartedly, vote them into office, and stand by their administration for the betterment of Owo.
We also deeply appreciate the tenacity and visionary leadership of our Honorable Commissioner of Finance, Hon. Wunmi Isaac, during this critical time. She has demonstrated exceptional competence and dedication to the progress of Owo. Her efforts are selfless and focused entirely on the socio-economic development and sustainability of our community. Owo is fortunate to have such a committed leader, and her contributions are a testament to the brighter future that lies ahead for our local government.
Let us rally behind her with our support and prayers. Together, we can ensure that Owo achieves its full potential and prospers for generations to come. Owo shall be great again!
