The Director General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has reiterated the agency’s commitment to forging strong partnerships with traditional institutions to foster national development.
Dr. Adepoju made this statement during a courtesy visit by Olori Adejumoke Adeleye, wife of the paramount ruler of Oka Akoko, His Royal Majesty Oba Adebori Adeleye. He emphasized the significance of collaborations with traditional institutions in promoting the application of space technology across various sectors.
Expressing gratitude for the visit, Dr. Adepoju praised the Olubaka for his choice of a supportive and remarkable spouse, noting that her influence is reflected in his accomplishments as a first-class monarch in an intellectual hub like Ondo State.
The NASRDA boss lauded Olori Adejumoke Adeleye as a woman of exceptional character and described her visit as an honor to the agency. He also acknowledged the contributions of notable sons of Oka Akoko, such as Professor Ajayi Boroffice and Dr. Felix Ale, to Nigeria’s space program.
Dr. Adepoju further reaffirmed NASRDA’s support for the proposed bill championed by Senator Ajayi Boroffice to establish the Federal University of Aeronautics in Oka Akoko. He emphasized the agency’s commitment to advocating for the project’s success, which he said would enhance Nigeria’s capacity in aeronautics and space science.
“The courtesy visit symbolizes the bridging of traditional heritage with modern innovation to drive national growth,” Dr. Adepoju stated.
In her remarks, Olori Adejumoke Adeleye congratulated Dr. Adepoju on his achievements as the Director General of NASRDA. She highlighted the deep interest of Oka Akoko in NASRDA’s strategic role in national development through space science and technology.
She commended the Director General for his efforts in restoring the agency’s prominence and inspiring younger generations to embrace space innovation. Olori Adeleye also extended festive wishes to the agency’s management and staff, wishing them a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
Dr. Felix Ale, NASRDA’s Director of Media and Corporate Communications, thanked Dr. Adepoju for hosting the Olori and noted the Olubaka’s longstanding interest in Nigeria’s space program. He described the Olori as a symbol of excellence and praised her impactful visit.
Dr. Ale also congratulated the Olubaka on his recent celebration of 50 years of legal practice before ascending the throne and commended the Olori for organizing a historic Christmas Carol and Children’s Party in Oka Akoko.
The event, which was attended by top management staff of NASRDA, was described as a colorful and symbolic occasion fostering stronger ties between traditional and modern institutions.
