The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC), Ondo State Axis, led by Comrade Oluwarotimi Tobiloba Joshua (JOSH), has announced a strategic partnership with the Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen security and intelligence efforts across the state.
As part of measures to safeguard students and foster a more secure environment, NANS JCC Ondo Axis pledged full support for a three-day training on intelligence gathering, organized by the state police command.
The training, themed “Basic Intelligence Course,” is set to take place at the OSDPC Hall, First Gate, Ijapo Estate, Akure, from Tuesday, April 29 to Thursday, May 1, 2025, starting daily at 9:00 AM.
Effective intelligence gathering is fundamental to modern policing, forming the bedrock of crime prevention, public trust, and operational efficiency.
However, challenges such as poor informant handling, breaches of confidentiality, and weak community relations continue to hinder security efforts, often resulting in crimes like kidnapping, cult activities, arson, and violent attacks.
In a bid to tackle these issues, the Ondo State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, mnips, introduced the Basic Intelligence Course.
The initiative seeks to strengthen collaboration between security operatives and the public, promoting a community-driven approach to intelligence and crime prevention.
NANS JCC Ondo Axis emphasized that securing the lives of students and the broader community is a shared duty.
The association reiterated its commitment to supporting all programs that prioritize safety and welfare in Ondo State.
The body also commended CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi and the entire command for their proactive steps toward a safer state and expressed readiness to work alongside security agencies and stakeholders in building a peaceful and progressive Ondo State.
