A senior police officer said that these 14 extremists were arrested from six districts – Thoubal, Imphal East, Imphal West, Tengnoupal, Bishnupur, and Jiribam.
Of the 14 ultras, four cadres each were arrested from Imphal East and Thoubal districts, while three were held from Tengnoupal district, and one each from Imphal West, Bishnupur, and Jiribam districts. The detained militants belonged to the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), United National Liberation Front (UNLF), PREPAK, and Socialist Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (SOREPA) outfits.
The arrested militants were involved in various crimes, including extortion of money from government employees, contractors, traders, and common people in different districts.
According to the police official, pistols, high-powered grenades, mobile handsets, one car, several two-wheelers, and many incriminating documents were recovered from the detainees.
The official further said that Rs 21.50 lakh was recovered from Laishram Ramesh Singh @ Bobo (44) of Khundrakpam Awang Leikai, Imphal East District who is presently working in the Finance section of UNLF (P) organization from his residence in Bishnupur district.
He mentioned that search operations and area domination were conducted by security forces in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. During these operations, temporary shelters of a training camp for Village Volunteers were dismantled at Gelmol village in Churachandpur District.
Meanwhile, a Defence spokesman said that in a series of joint operations during the past week, the Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, BSF, ITBP, and Manipur Police have recovered illegally-held 77 arms, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), grenades, various ammunition, and war-like stores from seven districts — Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Imphal East, Kakching, Jiribam, Kangpokpi, and Imphal West.
He said that the recovered arms include carbines, self-loading rifles (SLR), AK series rifles, .303 Light Machine Guns (LMGs), carbine machine guns, .303 rifles, INSAS rifles, sniper rifles, double-barrelled rifles, single-barrelled bolt-action rifles, and pistols.
The security forces in the joint operations also arrested nine militants of different outfits.

On April 15, 2025, the Manipur Police arrested three active members of the Socialist Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (SOREPA) from Waithou Chiru in Imphal East District. The arrested individuals were Leishungbam Lenin Singh (31), also known as Khuman, Yumkhaibam Lukhoi Singh (32), also known as Aboi, and Sagolsem Dinesh Singh (25). These individuals were involved in extortion activities targeting schools in the Yairipok area. From their possession, the authorities seized 03 mobile handsets, 01 two-wheeler, and other miscellaneous items.
Additionally, an active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) Nongdrenkhomba faction, Salam Sadananda Singh (31), also known as Igocha or Pari, was arrested from a rented house at Kombirei Housing Complex in Imphal West District. He was involved in extortion activities.
In Tengnoupal District, three active cadres of the United National Liberation Front (UNLF), Kanglei faction, were arrested from the general area near Border Pillar 81 Sub Pillar 3, under Moreh Police Station. The arrested individuals were Ningombam Shyam Singh (32), Chingangbam Johnson Meitei (30), also known as Angomcha Meitei, and Md. Sohel Khan (25). These individuals were involved in various unlawful activities, including extortion.
On April 14, 2025, a member of the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) Pro, Saikhom Sandip Singha (32), was arrested from Bidya Nagar in Jiribam District. He was involved in extortion and other illegal activities.
In Bishnupur District, Irengbam Robinson Singh (25), an active cadre of PREPAK (Pro), was arrested from his residence at Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou Ward No. 4. From his possession, the authorities seized 196 .303 mm empty cases, 82 7.62 mm SLR empty cases, 55 5.56 mm INSAS empty cases, 32 7.62 mm AK empty cases, and 01 mobile phone with SIM card. He was involved in illegal arms activities.
On April 13, 2025, the Manipur Police arrested Ahanthem Rajesh @ Nandakishore @ Parihan from Wangkhei under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East District. He was involved in extortion activities, and from his possession, the authorities seized 1 Beretta Pistol with 15 live rounds and 02 mobile phones.
On April 12, 2025, Moirangthem Champion Singh @ Marjit (21), a member of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL), was arrested near the Forest Gate in Bishnupur District for his involvement in unlawful activities.
Also on April 12, 2025, another active member of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP), People’s War Group (PWG) faction, Thangjam Amujao Meitei (37), was arrested from Sangakpham Bazar under Heingang Police Station in Imphal East District. He was involved in militant activities in the region.
The joint operations carried out by the Manipur Police and security forces led to the recovery of several illegal arms, including carbines, Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), AK series rifles, pistols, and large amounts of ammunition.
