Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has extended his congratulations to Prince Leke Adegbite on his re-election as Chairman of the Ondo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
During the inauguration ceremony of the union’s new leadership held in Akure on Wednesday, the Governor, represented by his Chief Press Secretary, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, praised the peaceful process that led to Adegbite’s return for a second term.
He applauded the unity and maturity displayed by union members, noting that the smooth transition reflects their dedication to professionalism and democratic values. Aiyedatiwa also acknowledged the positive relationship between the state government and the NUJ, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with the media for the advancement of good governance.
He expressed appreciation for the cooperation the union has shown his administration and reaffirmed the government’s readiness to support responsible journalism.
The Governor also congratulated Miss Precious Oluwole of TRACE News Magazine, a member of the Governor’s Press Crew, on her emergence as Assistant General Secretary of the union.
Speaking at the occasion, the NUJ National President, Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, represented by the South West Zonal Vice President, Mrs. Aderonke Samo, commended the council members for upholding journalistic integrity and praised the peaceful electoral process and the outgoing leadership for their service.
In his speech, Prince Leke Adegbite expressed appreciation to colleagues and guests, pledging to continue safeguarding the interests of journalists in the state. He also promised to build on the progress made by the past executives.
Others sworn in alongside him include Mr. Meshach Olaoluwa as General Secretary, Mrs. Maria Famakinwa as Treasurer, and Miss Precious Oluwole as Assistant Secretary.
