The police on Tuesday charged a 57-year-old man, Olusola Joseph, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, with contempt of court.
Joseph, whose address was not provided, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on March 28, at about 4.00 p.m, at Apete area of Ibadan.
He alleged that Joseph, being a defendant in a pending land case, violated the court’s order.
Tellang alleged that the defendant had previously been warned not to go to the land in dispute but he intentionally disobeyed the directive of the court.
He alleged that the defendant went on to raise structures on the said disputed land.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of section 133(9) of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Moyosore Atanda, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until May 20, for hearing. (NAN)
