The Executive Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr. Nureni Adeniran, has described the demise of Ibadan- based political leader, Alhaji Yekini Ayoade Adeojo, as the end of a political era.
Adeniran stated this in a statement issued on Friday in Ibadan, mourning the death of Adeojo.
Alhaji Yekini Adeojo, was a former Deputy National Chairman (South) and the first governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oyo State in 1999.
Adeojo died in Ibadan on Friday during a brief illness.
Adeniran, who described the late elder statesman as one of the founding fathers of PDP in Nigeria, and a leading light, who ensured that the party was well-rooted in Oyo State.
Dr. Adeniran expressed his condolences to the Chairman, Ido LGA, Sheriff Adeojo; the Chairman, Oyo State Water Corporation, Elias Adeojo; the entire Adeojo family as well as the PDP in Oyo state.
“Baba Adeojo was a father to us all. He gave us his support in the PDP, wholeheartedly”, he said.
Dr. Adeniran recalled how late Adeojo supported the second term bid of Governor Seyi Makinde, without any doubt.
“He had to move out of his house to radio stations to support the campaign of Governor Seyi Makinde, for his re-election in 2023, despite the heat and political tension then. That was top-notch”
He was a major pillar of the PDP in Oyo State, and we will miss his wisdom and elderly counsel”, Adeniran added.
While commiserating with the PDP family in Oyo State, under the leadership of Engr. Seyi Makinde, Dr. Adeniran prayed for the repose of Adeojo’s soul, asking God to grant his family, and the entire PDP in Oyo State, the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
