The Ijaw Nation has long been recognized for its integrity, leadership, and commitment to progress, with High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) and Chief Dennis Otuaro standing as symbols of these values.
Their dedication to security, economic stability, and development in the Niger Delta has been unwavering.
However, recent attempts by Jude Gbaboyor and his associates to tarnish their reputations through misinformation and calculated sabotage have been strongly condemned.
General John Abugor, a respected ex-militant leader from Jesse town in Ethiope West LGA and key figure in the Niger Delta Amnesty Programme, has described Gbaboyor’s smear campaign as an attack on the Ijaw Nation and a betrayal of the region’s progress.
He denounced the spread of falsehoods against TANTITA Security Services Nigeria Ltd. and the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), emphasizing that such propaganda serves only selfish interests.
Abugor highlighted that Gbaboyor has consistently misused social media, particularly Facebook, to propagate baseless accusations against TANTITA Security Services, an organization under High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), which has been instrumental in securing Nigeria’s oil infrastructure, curbing crude oil theft, and stabilizing the nation’s economy.
He argued that any attack on TANTITA amounts to economic sabotage, given the significant improvement in Nigeria’s oil production since it took over pipeline security.
He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to continue working with Tompolo, recognizing his competence and dedication to safeguarding Nigeria’s vital resources. Dismissing claims that Tompolo amassed wealth through ritualistic means, Abugor insisted that his financial success is the result of legitimate business ventures widely acknowledged by the public.
Similarly, he praised the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) under Chief Dennis Otuaro, commending its efforts in empowering ex-agitators, fostering peace, and creating opportunities for Niger Delta youths.
He condemned Gbaboyor’s attempts to discredit the program as a deliberate effort to destabilize the region.
Calling on Niger Delta stakeholders to reject Gbaboyor’s divisive tactics, Abugor applauded General Preye Slabor, Chairman of PAP Phase 3, for his leadership.
He urged Niger Delta youths to expose and resist misinformation by reporting and countering false narratives spread on social media, while also defending the legacies of Tompolo, Otuaro, and other leaders dedicated to the region’s progress.
Abugor further challenged Gbaboyor to present any meaningful contributions he has made toward the development of the Niger Delta before attempting to criticize those actively working for its progress.
Reaffirming that the Niger Delta will not tolerate saboteurs, Abugor declared that no amount of propaganda can undermine the efforts of Tompolo and Otuaro in advancing the region.
He urged all well-meaning Niger Deltans to remain vigilant, ensuring that the legacies of these leaders remain untarnished as they continue to play key roles in Nigeria’s security and economic stability.
