
The All Progressives Congress, APC, Akwa Ibom State Chapter, is celebrating a major milestone for Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, GCON, President of the Senate, who has been conferred with the prestigious Ambassador award by the University of Calabar.Â
This honour, according to the Party, recognizes Senator Akpabio’s outstanding contributions to education and national development, particularly in Akwa Ibom State.
The party said, as a distinguished politician, Senator Akpabio has had an impressive career, serving as Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2007 to 2015 and later as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Minister for Niger Delta Affairs. His leadership and public service have earned him numerous awards and honours.
It further stated that Senator Akpabio’s commitment to education is particularly notable. During his tenure as governor, he introduced Free and Compulsory Education in Akwa Ibom State, initiated grants for students in tertiary institutions, and ensured prompt payment of bursary. These initiatives have had a lasting impact on education in the state.
The University of Calabar’s recognition of Senator Akpabio as an Ambassador is a significant milestone in his illustrious career. This honour acknowledges his achievements and reflects his commitment to promoting education and leadership excellence in Nigeria.
