Baby Chakraborty, KalimNews, March 20, 2025, Kolkata : Sebaashray, the healthcare initiative led by Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee, concluded on Thursday with a remarkable milestone of 12,35,773 patients benefitting from the services provided during the campaign. The event broke records as it wrapped up its 75-day journey of offering free medical services to people in need across the Diamond Harbour constituency.
The last day of the mega health camps saw 69,057 individuals walking into the camps, with 59,175 undergoing diagnostic tests. A total of 74,843 patients received free medicines, and 115 critical cases were referred for advanced care. In a post on X, Banerjee reflected on the campaign’s success, saying, “There is an old adage that every curtain must fall, every show must end. But Sebaashray refuses to conform to such finality. Today, as this 75-day journey concludes, its true impact is only beginning to unfold. Sebaashray has shattered barriers, bridging the gap between despair and hope.”
Banerjee further praised the efforts and dedication of all involved, stating, “We ended on a resounding high – 12,35,773 PATIENTS have received medical attention through Sebaashray. Just today, 69,057 individuals walked into our mega camps, 59,175 underwent diagnostic tests, 74,843 received free medicines, and 115 critical cases were referred for advanced care.”
The MP also expressed deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses, lab technicians, and volunteers, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to serving the people. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude and salute to everyone involved in this project. Sebaashray would not have been possible without your love and support. Diamond Harbour, I remain at your service until my last breath,” he added.
The second phase of Sebaashray, which started on March 16, 2025, was held in seven assembly constituencies within the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency. A total of 272 camps were set up, with around 41 mega camps organized in Diamond Harbour constituency alone. The initiative has seen immense participation, with over 11.5 million individuals benefiting since its inception.
