The Ose Local Government Legislative House was officially inaugurated today at the council’s multipurpose hall, which was transformed into a legislative chamber to reflect the administration’s dedication to democratic governance and legislative independence.
The event was graced by dignitaries, political figures, religious leaders, and other key stakeholders, including Hon. Eni Omosule, a former Member of the House of Representatives for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, and Dr. Jide Owoka, among others.
Before the inauguration, the Executive Chairman of Ose Local Government, Hon. Barr. Clement Kolapo Ojo, hosted the 12 newly elected ward legislators in his office, where he emphasized the importance of continuous learning in governance.
He urged them to embrace education as a tool for effective leadership, reminding them that knowledge broadens perspectives and enhances decision-making.
He further assured them of his open-door policy, encouraging collaboration and teamwork, stating that collective effort is crucial for the progress of Ose Local Government.
Addressing the legislators, Hon. Eni Omosule reminded them of their primary duty to their constituents, stressing that the concerns of their wards should be their top priority.
He advised them to stay connected to the people they represent, listen attentively, and remain committed to grassroots development.
Similarly, Princess Tola Awoh, a former commissioner with experience across various ministries, urged the lawmakers—especially the female members—to serve with dedication, integrity, and unity.
She cautioned against unnecessary criticism and commended the chairman for his leadership qualities, describing him as a fair and progressive-minded leader.
She further encouraged female legislators to balance their responsibilities in governance with family values while contributing meaningfully to the administration’s developmental goals.
During the inauguration, the Legislative House elected its principal officers, with Hon. Agbede Adegoke Michael emerging as the Leader of the House, while other key positions were also filled to ensure smooth legislative operations. In addition, Hon. Igeleke Gbenga Stephen from Ijagba was appointed as the Secretary to the Local Government.
The event marked a significant milestone for the administration, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, teamwork, and grassroots engagement. With the legislative arm now fully constituted, Ose Local Government is set to witness a new phase of governance focused on inclusivity and progress.
