The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially taken a bold step towards digital transformation by contracting Tunmef Global Limited to conduct a nationwide digital membership registration. This initiative aims to create a comprehensive and up-to-date database of party members ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The agreement was finalized at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday night, with key party stakeholders in attendance. Among them were the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, alongside Cross River State Governor Bassey Otu and Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo. Also present were the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, members of the National Working Committee, and state party chairmen.
Addressing the gathering, Uzodimma emphasized that the initiative reflects APC’s commitment to leveraging technology to strengthen internal processes and solidify its standing as Nigeria’s dominant political party. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for endorsing the move, stating, “All over the world, no one is using analogue anymore. It is now the digital economy, digital politics, and even digital social order that we are parading globally. This initiative will confirm the integrity of our membership register. If we say we have 10 million members, it must be verifiable.”
He further urged the consultant to complete the project within record time, adding that the party is prepared for any opposition scrutiny. “We are not afraid of what the opposition will say. We must organize our party to be respected worldwide. APC is not a party built on a platform expecting no contest. Democracy thrives on contest, and Nigerians will decide,” Uzodimma asserted.
APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, also hailed the initiative as a milestone for the party. He noted that the digital registration had been in the pipeline for years but had now been realized under Tinubu’s administration. “This was a programme conceived a long time ago but didn’t see the light of day. Now, we are happy that this initiative has been approved by our President. APC has now gone digital. We are no longer analogue. With this exercise, we will have scientific data that we can always rely on, even in legal disputes concerning membership,” he explained.
Providing an overview of the project, APC National Legal Adviser, Prof. AbdulKareem Kana, highlighted the importance of linking party members’ registration numbers to their National Identity Numbers (NIN). He noted that this system would allow the party to access detailed information about its members at the touch of a button from any location. “After a rigorous selection process, Tunmef Global Limited was chosen as the consultant due to its expertise. This project was proposed, approved by the governors, and endorsed by our leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he said.
With this digital membership drive, APC is setting a new standard in party administration, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and strategic planning for future elections.
