The Vice-Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Ondo State, Prof. Olugbenga Ige, has reaffirmed the institution’s dedication to expanding its global influence through strategic collaborations with both local and international organizations.
Prof. Ige made this statement while inaugurating a four-day Employability Training and Information Session focused on opportunities for work, study, and vocational training in Germany.
The event, which began on Monday, February 3, 2025, was organized by AAUA’s Teaching and Leadership Centre (TLC) in partnership with the Nigerian-German Centre for Migration and Development (NGC).
Highlighting the university’s commitment to global recognition, Prof. Ige noted that AAUA continuously takes deliberate steps to strengthen its reputation and establish meaningful partnerships with key stakeholders. He expressed appreciation to the NGC for selecting AAUA for the training and commended the TLC for its role in making the initiative possible.
In his address, the Director of the Teaching and Leadership Centre, Prof. Busuyi Mekusi, stated that the training aimed to equip students and staff with valuable skills, expand professional networks, and provide critical knowledge to help participants navigate migration-related challenges. He also acknowledged the Vice-Chancellor’s consistent support for the Centre’s initiatives.
The first day of the event was attended by Deans, Directors, and Heads of Departments and Units, while the remaining three days were dedicated to training 1,200 final-year students from different faculties.
Among the facilitators were Barr. Maureen Ovie from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Dr. Austin Ezejiofor and Mr. Ayomikun Olugbode from the GIZ Centres for Migration and Development, as well as Miss Veronica Adeloye and Miss Eniola Lasisi from the Goethe Institute.
