Expresses Gratitude to Tompolo, Tonlagha, Pondi, and Others for Their Dedication to the Cause

Dr. Olaye Messiah Doupade, a prominent humanitarian activist from the Niger Delta, has extended his sincere congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his remarkable leadership in signing the Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Warri South West LGA, into law. He described this move as a transformative step that cements Nigeria’s commitment to advancing maritime education, fostering economic growth, and empowering the nation’s youth.
Dr. Messiah also expressed his appreciation to Senator James Manager, Senator Joel Onohwakpo, and Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi for their vital contributions in facilitating the passage of the bill through the National Assembly.
He lauded the achievement as a significant milestone not only for the people of Okerenkoko but for the nation as a whole, emphasizing its potential to strengthen Nigeria’s standing in the global maritime sector. He believes that the formal establishment of the university will play a crucial role in training skilled maritime professionals, unlocking economic opportunities, and enhancing Nigeria’s influence in international maritime affairs.
Dr. Messiah also acknowledged the key figures behind this success. He expressed deep gratitude to High Chief Dr. Government Oweizide Ekpomupolo (Tompolo) for his steadfast commitment and sacrifice toward ensuring the university’s creation. He also praised Mr. Matthew Tonlagha, Chief Engr. Keston Pondi, and others who dedicated time, resources, and energy to make this achievement possible. Dr. Messiah highlighted that their unwavering efforts would be remembered as a significant contribution to the Niger Delta’s progress.
He said, “The signing of this bill into law marks a historic moment for Okerenkoko and will be cherished in the records of Gbaramatu Kingdom.”
Dr. Messiah also seized the opportunity to congratulate Aketekpe, the Royal Father of Gbaramatu Kingdom, for his leadership, which has attracted substantial development to the kingdom. He prayed for a long reign for Aketekpe, during which more progress is expected for the region.
Dr. Messiah emphasized that the Maritime University, Okerenkoko, is a national asset, designed to benefit all Nigerians, particularly those in the Niger Delta.

Dr. Messiah called on all stakeholders, community leaders, and well-meaning Nigerians to come together in supporting the university’s development. He urged the Federal Government and relevant agencies to provide the necessary infrastructure and academic resources to establish the institution as a center of excellence for maritime studies.
He concluded, “The Maritime University, Okerenkoko, is a symbol of hope for our region. It represents progress, empowerment, and the collective strength of our people. Now, we must focus on building a world-class institution that will endure for generations to come.”
