A man, identified as Ogeoma Ogbonna, has allegedly killed his father, Azubuike Ogbonna, in Umuomei, a community in the Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State.
Reports suggest that after the killing, Ogeoma buried his father’s head in a shallow grave within the family compound.
The body of the victim was discovered in a pool of blood, leading to shock and disbelief among neighbors, who expressed surprise at the violent act.
According to community sources, Ogeoma, a palm cutter, had exhibited signs of mental health struggles in recent times and had made threats to harm others.
He was said to have warned his father that he would kill him, which he carried out shortly thereafter.
A local resident commented, “Ogeoma had shown troubling behavior, but no one expected him to commit such an act. By the time neighbors arrived, the head had already been buried, and he even took us to the spot where it was hidden.”
As of the time of this report, the Police Public Relations Officer for Abia State, ASP Maureen Chinaka, had not responded to inquiries.
