Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has been impeached by members of the House.
A trusted source, who wished to remain anonymous, revealed that Hon. Lasbat Meranda, the Deputy Speaker, has been appointed as Obasa’s successor. Additionally, Hon. Fatai Mojeed, the Deputy Chief Whip, has been elected as the new Deputy Speaker.
Sources indicate that Obasa’s impeachment follows a series of controversial financial matters that have surrounded him in recent times.
A brief statement from the anonymous source confirmed the development, stating, “Obasa has been impeached, and Deputy Speaker Mojisola Meranda has been elected as Speaker. Mojeed Fatai is now the Deputy Speaker.”
