In a surprising political shift, over 7,000 supporters of Engr. Aishatu Ahmed Modibbo (Binani) have withdrawn their allegiance to her and pledged their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) leadership in Adamawa State.
The group, previously known as the Binani Support Group, was established in 2013 to promote APC ideals. Its Coordinator, Mallam Mutawab Haruna, announced that the group has reverted to its original name, the “APC Youth Development Forum Adamawa Northern Zone,” emphasizing their unwavering commitment to the party over any individual.
Haruna explained that the decision to cut ties with Binani was unanimous and rooted in their dedication to fostering party unity and development. He expressed gratitude to the APC for consistently supporting their members through initiatives such as agricultural empowerment, financial assistance, and skill acquisition programs, even during their campaign for Binani’s governorship bid.
“Our loyalty lies with the APC, not with any individual,” Haruna stated. “If Binani chooses to leave the party, we wish her well. However, our focus remains on the unity and progress of the APC.”
This defection marks a significant setback for Binani’s political influence, as the APC leadership in Adamawa State has warmly welcomed the group’s renewed allegiance. The development is expected to bolster the party’s strength in the region, potentially reshaping the political dynamics in the state.
