The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has started distributing non-sensitive materials to all 18 local government areas in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for January 18.
Joseph Aremo, the Chairman of ODIEC, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists on Saturday in Akure, signed by the Commission’s Press Officer, Mrs. Bisi Lawan.
According to Aremo, the distributed non-sensitive materials include ballot boxes, with all ad-hoc staff for the election already recruited and trained.
The ODIEC Chairman further noted that the commission had engaged with key stakeholders vital to the success of the election.
“The necessary non-sensitive materials for the election have been successfully delivered to the 18 local government offices of ODIEC. The commission is collaborating with relevant security agencies to ensure the safety of all election materials,” Aremo stated.
He reassured the public of the commission’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent, peaceful, and inclusive election in Ondo State.
Aremo urged the electorate to turn out in large numbers on election day to cast their votes and play an active role in the democratic process.
He also called on political parties, candidates, and their supporters to maintain peace, avoid violence, and adhere to the election guidelines.
