A 42-year-old man, Ogundare Anuoluwapo, was arraigned in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday for allegedly sexually harassing his neighbor’s wife.
Anuoluwapo, whose residence was not disclosed, appeared before the Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecution, Sgt. Alice Ojo, the offense occurred on December 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. in Ado-Ekiti. Ojo stated that Anuoluwapo repeatedly requested sexual intercourse from the complainant, Esther Sikiru, and threatened her during his advances.
The prosecutor added that the incident violated Section 270(1) & (2) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Sgt. Ojo requested an adjournment to allow time to review the case file and summon witnesses.
In response, the defense counsel, Adunni Olanipekun, applied for bail, assuring the court that her client would not abscond.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun granted Anuoluwapo bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety of equal value. The case was adjourned to February 20 for further mention.
