President Bola Tinubu, along with former Nigerian leaders Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, attended the inauguration of Ghana’s new president, John Mahama, on Tuesday in Accra.
Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s president, made a historic return to office, succeeding Nana Akufo-Addo.
The ceremony also marked a significant milestone with the swearing-in of Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as Ghana’s first female vice president.
During his speech, Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s strong commitment to supporting Ghana under Mahama’s leadership, describing the Ghanaian president as a leader of “patriotic vision and substance.” He further emphasized the importance of African unity, stating, “Nigeria stands firmly behind Ghana and all African nations.”
In his address, Mahama expressed appreciation for the presence of Tinubu and other dignitaries, vowing to strengthen relationships within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and work towards regional prosperity.
The inauguration underscored the growing partnership between Ghana and Nigeria, presenting a united vision for the advancement of the West African region.
