A devastating fire early Monday morning claimed the lives of the daughter and three grandchildren of Sokoto State’s Secretary to the Government, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa.
The victims included Alhaji Sifawa’s daughter, who was married to Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development.
The fire, which occurred while the family was asleep, tragically trapped the woman and her three children.
Her husband was the only survivor of the incident.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire, while the Sokoto State Fire Service worked tirelessly to contain the blaze.
The victims are set to be laid to rest today at the Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo Mosque in Sifawa, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The heartbreaking incident has prompted an outpouring of condolences from across the state. Deputy Governor Eng. Idris Mohammed Gobir, members of the State Executive Council, All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders, and numerous friends and sympathizers have visited the bereaved family in Sifawa to offer their support during this difficult time.
