Gunmen have killed the Katsina State Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Surajo Leader, along with two others in the Mai Rana community of Kusada Local Government Area.
The attack occurred on Saturday night when the assailants stormed the community, leaving the area in shock and fear. According to sources, the gunmen also abducted two of the deceased’s wives and his daughter, who is an undergraduate student.
The victims were laid to rest according to Islamic rites, as the community grapples with the tragic loss.
Katsina State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, confirmed the incident, stating that police operatives responded promptly and engaged the attackers in a gunfight. During the confrontation, the gunmen were forced to abandon one of their operational vehicles and one of the abducted wives.
ASP Aliyu added that efforts are underway to rescue the remaining abductees and apprehend the perpetrators. He urged residents to provide any credible information that could assist in locating the criminals and ensuring justice.
