The people of Akungba, a prominent university town in Ondo State, have made an urgent appeal to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for the inclusion of their township roads in the state’s ongoing infrastructural development plans.
In a heartfelt letter to the Governor, Pius Ade Babaleye (PAB), Coordinator of Akungba Platforms, congratulated Aiyedatiwa on his electoral victory and commended the administration’s bold steps in prioritizing infrastructural development with the approval of over 50 township road projects across the state.
However, Babaleye expressed deep concern that Akungba, despite its strategic significance, was not among the towns selected to benefit from these crucial developments.
Akungba, home to Adekunle Ajasin University, has long faced severe road conditions that have hindered transportation, safety, and the overall quality of life for residents, including students, traders, and the broader community.
Despite promises from the previous administration, these issues remain unresolved, creating a pressing need for urgent intervention.
Highlighting Akungba’s overwhelming electoral support for the Governor, with more than 90% of votes cast in his favor during the recent gubernatorial election, Babaleye urged Aiyedatiwa to prioritize the dualization of Akungba’s roads. This project is seen as vital not only for the town’s development but also for enhancing the overall economic progress of Ondo State.
The letter concluded with a call for the Governor to fulfill his campaign promises to the Akungba community, reaffirming the strong trust and support they have placed in his leadership.
It also wished the Governor continued success in advancing the state toward a new era of prosperity.
