Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has lauded human rights advocate and lawyer Dele Farotimi for his steadfast courage in challenging circumstances.
Farotimi had recently been held in custody following a defamation allegation brought against him by legal luminary Afe Babalola.
In a message shared on his X account, Obi revealed that he visited Farotimi on January 2, shortly after a meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
“After my meeting with President Obasanjo yesterday, I made time to visit my younger brother, Dele Farotimi. Since his return from the Ekiti correctional facility, I had not had the chance to see him,” Obi stated.
Obi expressed happiness over Farotimi’s positive outlook and praised his dedication to the pursuit of a better Nigeria.
“Dele Farotimi remains an embodiment of courage in difficult times, consistently standing firm for the cause of good governance in Nigeria,” he added. “I wish him success and strength in the year ahead as we work together toward the progress of our nation.”
