The NYSC Ondo State Coordinator, Mrs. Kuburat Omowumi Bakare, has urged corps members to overcome barriers hindering their potential by actively participating in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
Addressing corps members at the conclusion of SAED activities for the 2024 Batch ‘C’ (Stream 1) orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ikare-Akoko, Bakare encouraged them to continue post-camp training, emphasizing that their achievements during the service year and beyond would make the NYSC proud.
Bakare, impressed by the corps members’ progress within a short period, noted that SAED is a strategic initiative aimed at reducing unemployment and offering hope to graduate youths. She highlighted the transformation of corps members, stating that many had shed initial arrogance and embraced skills that could propel them to exceptional success.
Drawing on testimonials from serving and former corps members, Bakare reaffirmed that SAED is a lifeline, not a scam, capable of uplifting participants. She assured the corps members that their efforts today would equip them to overcome future challenges.
The Coordinator also lauded the trainers and facilitators for their dedication, sacrificing personal commitments to impart valuable skills to the corps members.
Earlier, Pastor (Mrs.) Jennifer Funmilola Dawodu, the Assistant Director and Head of SAED, praised the corps members for their ingenuity and competitive spirit. She appreciated the State Coordinator for fostering an enabling environment for skill development and commended the camp officials for their commitment to the programme.
Dawodu stressed the importance of persistence in skill mastery and commended the corps members for their enthusiasm during the in-camp training.
The event featured exhibitions and vibrant demonstrations of various skills, including tailoring, food processing, ICT, cap and wig making, shoe production, and hairdressing. A public speaking segment also showcased the corps members’ confidence and eloquence through compelling speeches on diverse topics.
