In a profound act of devotion and gratitude, High Chief (Dr.) Emonena Victor Wayles Egukawhore, Chairman of De Wayles Group of Companies, commemorated the 5th Memorial Service of his late mother, Deaconess (Mrs.) Magdalene Zipuamere Egukawhore, on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
The memorial, held at St. Matthew Anglican Church in Patani, Delta State, Nigeria, was a grand occasion that united family, friends, dignitaries, and well-wishers from around the globe.
The event was graced by an illustrious array of dignitaries, including His Excellency Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State (represented); Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State; Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, former Governor of Delta State; representatives of Enugu State’s Executive Council led by Hon. Ken Ugwu; Chief Monday John Onyeme, Deputy Governor of Delta State; members of the National Assembly, State Executive Councils, captains of industry, and prominent clergy members. Traditional rulers, local government chairmen, and notable figures from Delta and Bayelsa states also joined the celebration, underscoring the widespread respect for the Egukawhore family.
Deaconess Magdalene Egukawhore, who passed away at the age of 77 in 2019, was remembered as a pillar of strength and a beacon of selflessness.
Her unwavering faith and dedication to her family and community left a lasting impact, with heartfelt tributes emphasizing her mentorship, spiritual guidance, and commitment to humanity.
In his sermon titled “Mother’s Influence” (Genesis 27:1-7), Rt. Rev. Victor Okporu highlighted the vital role of mothers in shaping legacies and nurturing values, drawing parallels to the life of Deaconess Magdalene.
The service transitioned to a colorful reception in Patani, where cultural displays, music, and culinary delights celebrated the matriarch’s life. Guests, including business associates, political leaders, and community members, lauded High Chief Wayles for his dedication to preserving his mother’s memory.
In an emotional address, High Chief Wayles described his mother as a “rare gem” whose faith and love shaped his journey. He expressed profound gratitude to God and thanked all who contributed to the success of the memorial, including governors, clergy, and staff of De Wayles Group of Companies.
The 5th Memorial Service was not only a celebration of Deaconess Magdalene Egukawhore’s life but also a commitment to keeping her legacy alive.
